TS selection and 22kHz lock signal and screen format on pow

Messagede G4WIM » Jeu 3 Aoû 2017 17:38

Another little problem.

I'm trying to get the 22kHz TS lock signal to work as the same time as the video being decoded.

If I set TS=2 and 22khz_switch=2, I get video displayed but no 22KHz lock signal output

but if I set TS=1 then I get 22KHz lock signal but no video.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong ?

Also is there any way to set the screen format on power up ?
I'm building this rx for a repeater and would like it to boot up in non expert mode, full screen with just the status constellation info across the bottom.

If you use a Serit NIM FTSxxx, you have 2 x 22kHZ output:
pin 20 => 22KHz TX1
pin 40 => 22kHz TX2

I think that I have set the output of the lock signal, always at pin 40 (22kHz TX2)
but perhaps the signal is changed of place when we choose TS1 or TS2

when you are receiving the video (TS2), try to get the 22 kHz on pin 40 or on Pin 20, to check if it has changed of place...

Also is there any way to set the screen format on power up ?

you can only set the standard mode with the left and right panel.
I could add what you want in a next version.

Hi JP,

thanks for the quick reply.

I'm using a Serit FTS4334L tuner so will check and see where the 22kHz signal is hiding :-)

As for start up screen mode, if you could enable the mode as I suggested that'd be great.

However how do I set 'standard mode with left and right panels' or is that just the default when the program is started in non expert mode ?

Great program, truly appreciate all your work.

Thanks - that sorted out the 22kHz probel - now have video and 22kHz lock signal.

Edit - looks like this hanging business might actually be a Portsdown problem as when I run my DATV express tx everything works perfectly !!

One other observation / question, I'm running Minitiouner on a Dell Optiplex 580 which is a dual core AMD processor running at 2.8GHz with 4GB of memory.

The rx is set to 146.5Mhz 7/8 FEC and 333ksps and DVB-S

CPU usage is steady at 25 to 30% but the video has a habit of hanging / freezing for a few seconds then running again. Does this every minute or so.

Memory usage looks ok with 2GB unused.

A clue might lie in the system interupts CPU usage as they often consume 27% and are related to Deferred Procedure calls - so might these be 'bogging down' the decoding ?

I'm using a Portsdown as the tx and this hanging / freezing does not appear at the higher symbol rates, say 2000ksps - MER is good at 26dB.

Question - is this normal or have I got an underlying problem with the Dell ?

Finally is there anyway I can make a PayPal donation to help with your work ?

Your Dell computer is not overloaded. This issue come from the TX encoding setup, as the Microsoft demultiplexer takes care of the timing, if you have bad timing in the TS that is sent, you will have this result.
some parameters in the encoding or multiplexing process must be changed.

You can make a Paypal donation using my call sign @yahoo.fr. Thank you.

Hi JP,

agreed, the freezing problem lay with the tx which is why I edited my post. The problem is known within the Portsdown pattern generator.

Also as I previously mentioned, is there a way for MiniTiouner to start up in non expert but in 'mode 3' ie three presses of the esc key ?

This would be much better for GB3FT a repeater I'm building.

Have a bottle of wine on me via paypal !
