Scan&tioune UDP config

Messagede F4HEX » Ven 7 Aoû 2020 08:15

Bonjour JP

Hello I am using scan and tioune now for a while with the Network address 127.0.0.1.
Now I connected my 2 Plutos via LAN.
The network address of the PC network card is 172.24.53.211.
The DATV Pluto is 172.43.24.11.

If I try now to change the UDP Config to the PC IP address like below:

[UDP]
;=====================================================================
; adresse UDP utilisée pour envoyer le TS à VLC
; UDP address used to send TS to VLC
;.....................................
Conf_AddrUDP=172.24.53.211

;Conf_AddrUDP=127.0.0.1

scan and Tioue shows in he upper right corner

VLC
Display
via UDP
**** NO UDP ****

which I do not understand the network card is there and active communicate to the plutos.

Does someone have an idea what might be wrong?

Hello,

I cannot help you, not enough info. I don't know exactly what is your configuration, what you want to do.
and a UDP address is between 224.0.0.0 and 239.255.255.255

When we use a UDP address we must indicate 3 values;
- the UDP address : 230.0.0.1
- the port : 9999
- the iP of the network interface used (The IP of the Ethernet card or Wifi card of your PC) : 192.168.0 34 or 192.168.1.23 ..... check on your PC

the network address used by your PC cannot be the UDP address

take care ; if you have at same time a Wifi card and an Ethernat card active, you must indicat the good value.

Hello Jean- Pierre,

I wanted to use the IP address of me NIC of my notebook which is 172.24.53.211 for UDP.

As you mentioned that I cannot use this NIC address for UDP.

I thought this is possible as I read somewhere here in the forum.

So I am using right now the loopback adapter at 127.0.0.1 which is working with scan and tioue.

But I cannot get a UDP connection to a stand alone VLC player running at my notebook(I am talking about one single notebook).

setting in VLC player: udp://@127.0.0.1:9001

The port which I use is 9001 for the first and 9002 for the second mini Tiouner.
I have the scan and tioue in 2 different directories.

I do have 2 plutos at 172.24.53.11 and 172.24.53.21 so I tried also the plutos IP for UDP but it doesn't seems to work.

With this setting I can receive the stream by VLC player:

############################################
adresse UDP utilisée pour envoyer le TS à VLC
; UDP address used to send TS to VLC
;.....................................
Conf_AddrUDP=172.24.53.255

Conf_Port=9002

Conf_LocalIP=172.24.53.211
###########################################

Network addres set in VLC
udp://@:9001

Because a UDP stream to .255 is a Multicast address to all in the network and I need to listen only to the port.

But here I do not have a video in the scan and Tioune itself.

If I put this in the .INI
###########################################
; adresse UDP utilisée pour envoyer le TS à VLC
; UDP address used to send TS to VLC

Conf_AddrUDP=172.24.53.211

Conf_Port=9001

Conf_LocalIP=172.24.53.211

###########################################

With this I can see the Video in Scan And Tioune
but no Video in VLC player with the setting udp://@172.24.53.211:9001.

So the question is now for me what would be the right setting under.

Conf_AddrUDP=???

Conf_Port=9001 I can chose what I want I assume

Conf_LocalIP=????

to see the video in scan and tioune and the VLC player. Normally I would assume using the multicast address all devices connected to this subnet
can see the stream with the right port address set.

By the way If you are using along IP address like 172.24.53.211 only 3 digit of the port are displayed in the Upper right corner.

I am not sure if I expressed myself in a way you ask.

Thanks a lot for your help and for the really nice software so far.

I think that it is because 172.24.53.211:9001 is not a multicast address.
as you don't use a UDP Multicast address, you are in a Monocast mode , so only one software at a time can receive the stream.
Just try to use a multicast address as I give in the original Scan&Tioune.ini file and test it to see if you can receive using Scan&Tioune and an external VLC at same time.

;============================================
; adresse UDP utilisée pour envoyer le TS à VLC
; UDP address used to send TS to VLC

Conf_AddrUDP=232.0.0.12
Conf_Port=9999
Conf_LocalIP=172.24.53.211

I changed now the setting to

Conf_AddrUDP=232.0.0.12
Conf_Port=9999
Conf_LocalIP=172.24.53.211

This is the result of the beacon.

download/file.php?mode=view&id=1883

I get the UDP indication in the upper left corner but no Video in scan and Tioune and no video in VLC (udp://@232.0.0.12:9999).

So what I do not understand is why the 232.0.0.12 shall be a multicast address.

Normally with UDP the address xxx.xxx.xxx.255 is a multicast for this sub net. So all devices will listen to this and if you select the right port you can read the data.

This is working with the VLC player if I put 172.24.53.255 and put VLC (udp://@:9999)so I read the stream in VLC player, But the scan and Tioune can't read is

I do not agree.
xx.xx.xx.255 is not a multicast IP

So what I do not understand is why the 232.0.0.12 shall be a multicast address.

google "multicast IP"

Host Extensions for IP Multicasting [RFC1112] specifies the extensions
required of a host implementation of the Internet Protocol (IP) to
support multicasting. The multicast addresses are in the range
224.0.0.0 through 239.255.255.255.
Address assignments are listed below.

The range of addresses between 224.0.0.0 and 224.0.0.255, inclusive,
is reserved for the use of routing protocols and other low-level
topology discovery or maintenance protocols, such as gateway discovery
and group membership reporting. Multicast routers should not forward
any multicast datagram with destination addresses in this range,
regardless of its TTL.

All professional software I use for UDP multicast streaming only accept official Multicast IP that are between 224.0.1.0 and 239.255.255.255, inclusive.
and ask for the port number and the IP of the local network used by you PC
(download TSreaderlite, set it in Multicast UDP mode and when you start it you will see the Interface IP you can use)

So 232.0.0.12 is absolutely a multicast IP
so for multicast you must use an IP in the rage of 224.0.0.0 through 239.255.255.255.
they ask for the port used and the IP of the network used by your wifi or ethernet card
(download TSreaderlite, set it in Multicast UDP mode and when you start it you will see the Interface IP you can use)

If, in your case, nothing works using 232.0.0.12:9999 it is because, I suppose, the Local network IP you give (172.24.53.211) is not the good one.
you must have a local network (ethernet or wifi) card inn function and give the IP used by this local network, it should be 192.168.xx.xx

if you have no local network, it is normal that nothing works.
